Dallas 2012 Trailer deconstruction/analysis
•The Non digetic soundtrack helps create tension, and the beats of the soundtrack fit the cutting and editing of the trailer, The slightly modified Iconic soundtrack makes the trailer recognisable.
•The trailer contains various Family Feud storylines, all weaved together.
•The older characters provide continuity for the older viewers of the original series, but the inclusion of a younger generation who they are also arguing with, offer new viewers a chance to get into the show.
• The helicopter shot from the original sequence is a reference for the older viewers, but also shows it is the same programme.
•The faded cuts in-between shots add a glamorous feel to the trailer.
•The trailer Indicates to the audience that JR has aged with the CU of his hands.
•Shot reverse shot shows the sons of the original characters, which the audience presume because they are shown to be arguing about the same thing.
•symmetrical shot of the two sons
•"My whole life I've been trying to put the Ewing name back on top" The trailer lets the audience know what's been happening in the time since the show ended, informing veteran viewers of the storyline progression.
•The zoom to the old house shows that the show is the same as it was in the original series and the quote "bobby was always a fool" presents us with a rivalry from the previous run of the show.
•"I'm sick to death of this family devouring itself over money" the themes of the series are set out for newer viewers, whilst letting older viewers know that the show is dealing in the themes of the original
•The title cards establish the themes of the show "Money" "Power" & "Rivalry" and also add to the tension already established by the music and edits.
